Cruise Logistics Manager

Reporting directly to the Head of Operations the Cruise Logistics Manager ensures the fleet of cruise ships are kept fully operational in the most cost-effective manner, within policy guidelines and to business standards. The Cruise Logistics Manager provides logistical support including personnel recruitment and administration, uniform supplies and travel arrangements. The Cruise Logistics Manager has significant voice and email contact with both internal and external suppliers and with offshore crew management personnel, and so the Logistics Manager will be expected to build good working relationships with all key stakeholders to deliver a best-in-class service.

What you will be doing

The Logistics Manager and team (direct line report responsibility) facilitate and support the fleet of ships with operational queries as well as acting as liaison between Cruise Operations and numerous UK departments and call centres. Provision and transportation of supplies and support materials such as stationary, entertainment prizes, props, costumes, childcare support materials as well as ad hoc suppliers travel and logistical support and financial reconciliation (management of raising POs, supplier recharges and investigating non-payments) of all related costs.

Support includes reservation and special request queries, incident management, customer complaints and welfare issues, press and legal investigations and educational visits. The Logistics Manager will assume first point of contact during office hours for incidents and operational disruptions.

An important element of a cruise holiday is the transition from the booking and ticketing process through to safe arrival at the ship. This transition can involve private transport, coach transport and company aircraft. The Cruise Logistics Manager would take ownership of all aspects of the transition liaising with UK ports, transport companies and airports as required.

What we are looking for

• Experience of working in a customer-facing type role
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Proactive problem solving with attention to detail
• Previous experience in administration of payroll and/or HR
• Proven, practical experience of overseas resort and tour/cruise operations including incident management, airport operations, cruise turnaround and fly-cruise operations.
• Strong organisation and planning skills with ability to prioritise and multi-task in a pressurised environment.
• Good knowledge of IT systems and processes (i.e. reservations/financial such as SAP)
• Experience of successfully managing a team of direct line reports
