Primary Function: The Fleet Public Health Manager is primarily responsible for performing shipboard inspections to verify compliance with the Vessel Sanitation Program, providing training to onboard officers and crew where appropriate as well as supporting the Operating team and Compliance team in operating the Windstar vessels to the highest Public Health standards. The position also takes charge of executing GI prevention and response protocols when needed.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections on board WSC vessels to verify compliance with the most current Vessel Sanitation Program Manual and issues inspection reports including recommendations.
  • Inspections are conducted during onboard visits which may last from 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Based on the results of inspections provides training where needed in particular for onboard staff in the following areas; potable water, pools and spas, housekeeping and cleaning practices, and air systems.
  • Prepares and Manages all PH training content for the WSC Fleet.
  • Conducts onboard Basic Sanitation Classes.
  • Verifies compliance with GI prevention and response protocols when needed.
  • Tracks recommendations of onboard public health inspections.
  • Liaises with onboard senior staff and officers regarding health and sanitation issues and assists them with preparing for upcoming public health Inspections.
  • Makes recommendations to company senior management to improve the onboard health and sanitation Program.
  • Participates in periodic updates for the health and sanitation Manual in the SEMS.
  • Acts as the Company representative in all questions relating to PH standards and implementation through Operational Teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hiring Criteria:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Public Health, Biology, Environmental studies.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the food service industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in facilities management inclusive plumbing, electrical, and pool and spa maintenance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills to write detailed reports and analyze ship trends.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attend CDC Vessel Sanitation Program training class.
  • Attended the Advanced Health and Sanitation Food serve safe class.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
