Royal Caribbean International is now recruiting Open Deck Managers ready to manage some of the most exciting and innovative outdoor facilities at sea. Imagine spending your morning managing the open deck - including the largest Rock Wall at sea, the FlowRider surfing attraction, swimming pools and other sports facilities - and your evenings coordinating exciting outer deck events. We are looking for you…are you ready to Get Out There? 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Manages the operation of the H2O Zone, Adult Pool Deck, Flowrider, Sports Deck, and all open deck spaces in accordance with department standard operating procedures manual. 
  • Provides and monitors the Guest Services Standards on open decks, including maintaining cleanliness of open decks, enforcing GVP, monitoring the Deck Chair and Towel programs, and monitoring venue music on the open decks. 
  • Assigns duties, responsibilities, and workstations to employees. Observes and evaluates employees in performance of duties and provides remedial training to correct deficiencies and ensure courteous service to guests. 
  • Manages the financial aspects of the operation of the H2O Zone, Adult Pool Deck, Flowrider, Sports Deck, and all open deck spaces, including the successful identification of expense reduction through cost efficiencies and revenue growth through promotional and up-selling activities. 
  • Collaborates with Cruise Director to coordinate all open deck entertainment events, including but not limited to Dancing Under The Stars, Outdoor Nightclub Event, and Sail-Away Events. 
  • Performs all other duties as required.

Hiring Requirements: 

  • Bachelors degree in Sports, Recreation, or related field from an accredited university or college, or an international equivalent. Ability to provide one-on-one rock climbing wall instruction. 
  • 3-5 years experience managing Sports and Water recreational operations and/or facilities. 
  • Current Lifeguard Certification with American Red Cross or a similar certifying organization. Current CPR Certification and life saving certification from the American Red Cross or similar certifying organization. 
  • Working knowledge of computers, internet, and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, & Powerpoint. 
  • Required to speak, read and write English clearly and distinctly 
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French, Mandarin, Italian or Portuguese preferred.
  • All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills.
