Environmental Officer
Location: At Sea
Salary: £4,726 (€5416) pmw
Hours: 3 months on and 2 months off rotation.
Further Details: 3R Global are currently looking for a highly motivated, experienced and passionate Environmental Officer. It is a great opportunity to join one of the most well-renowned companies in the cruise industry.

What you will be doing:

  • As an Environmental Officer, you will ensure the highest possible levels of compliance by shipboard staff with all established environmental standards, in line with the Company’s Core Values.
  • You will be responsible for the oversight and verification of shipboard environmental compliance as well as being the ship ambassador when environmental tours are conducted.
  • As Environmental Officer you will maintain environmental compliance with all applicable internal, external and governmental regulations.
  • You will be monitoring Oil Record, Garbage Record, Sewage and Greywater Discharge and Ballast Water log books at least once per week.
  • As Environmental Officer you will visit Bridge, Engine Room and ECR daily to verify that watch keepers are aware of environmental policies for the day and to check communications between the Bridge and ERC.
  • You will identify high risk areas and provide clear recommended solutions and consistently contributes ideas towards the formulation and implementation of short and long-range plans for improving environmental management at all levels. 
  • As Environmental Officer you will assist crew in solving environmental concerns, such as inoperative or ineffective pollution prevention and waste handling equipment, ineffective procedures, or ineffective pollution minimizing programs, such as recycling and hazardous materials. 
  • You will ensure waste systems are operational and operated according to environmental regulations.
  • As Environmental Officer you will manage garbage room operations and supervises collection and disposal of waste. 
  • You will maintain the onboard Chemical Management System, quarantining unapproved chemicals and requesting timely additions to the CMS. 

What you’ll need:

  • Engine Officer License and/or an environmental/science-based bachelor’s degree or higher 
  • Only liscensed Marine Engineers will be considered.
  • As Environmental Officer you must have at least five years of experience with environmental management systems 
  • STCW training certificates required 
  • Strong leadership skills 
  • Management experience 
  • Command of the English language, both verbal and written
