Assistant Sanitation Officer

On behalf of our respectable Client (Ocean going vessel), we are looking for:

ASSISTANT SANITATION OFFICER

Job scope: The role of the Sanitation Officer Assistant is to assist the Sanitation Officer in protecting the public health of all passengers and crew and to minimize the risk of any food or water related illness and relevant communicable diseases.

Main tasks:

• Assist the Sanitation Officer in carrying out shipboard hygiene and sanitation inspection in order to ensure the implementation of safe water and food handling practices and V.S.P. (US-PHS) and HACCP sanitation standards and procedures in all onboard departments.
• Interacts for all departments heads within Deck, Engine, and Hotel onboard in view to ensure the correct implementation of Vessel Sanitation Program and procedures;
• Jointly with onboard departments heads conducts sanitation inspections and report the result in the self-inspection V.S.P. format;
• Ensures that all personnel dealing with food is properly groomed and in good health;
• Checks all food outlets to ensure that cleaning is in line with V.S.P. (USPHS), HACCP and Company’s sanitation standards;
• Ensures that all galley utilities and other cleaning personnel use the 3-bucket system, with the appropriate sanitizing concentration as per V.S.P. requirements;
• Assist the Sanitation Officer to train crew members in the implementation of V.S.P. (USPHS) rules and regulations;
• Ensures that the VSP Corrective Action guidelines are implemented on a regular basis by closely monitoring all relevant facilities and instructing the crew accordingly;
• Is available for additional job related tasks as requested by the Hotel Manager
