Authority and Interrelation

• Engine department staff reporting to his supervisor as per vessel specific organization charts
• Authorised to safely and effectively perform installation, repair and maintenance tasks on board as instructed by the supervising officer.

Responsibility (including but not limited to)

• Understand and abide by all relevant documentation, regulations, guidelines and procedures. Sign copies as instructed by the superior officer to indicate understanding of the same.
• Report any undesired events, unsafe practices or near accidents observed to the superior officer/s and attempt to rectify them if safely possible.
• Participate actively in all training or drills and security measures as instructed.
• Perform installation, maintenance and repair duties as instructed by the supervisor.
• Perform security related duties as required by the Ship Security Officer.
• Assist the Hotel Engineer for record keeping and other clerical duties as required
• Assure proper storage of stores, spares and tools and manage the storage space(s) and workshop.
• In charge of maintenance and safe operation of the Life boats, Tender boats, Rescue boats, Beach boats and Sport boats engines and machinery under the instruction and supervision of Hotel Engineer.
• Assist in the maintenance, inventory, reorder and upkeep of spares, stores and tools under his charge as delegated by the supervisor.
• Maintenance and upkeep of the workshop. This will include all the hot work equipment within and outside the engine room spaces.
• Will be a member of the safety committee or any other official shipboard body set up under the authority of the Master, if called upon to do so.
• Assist in the upkeep and inventory of stores and spares
• Attend mooring station during arrival and departure port, if required.
• Will participate in waste management duties as directed by the shipboard management.
• Perform security related duties as required by the Ship Security Officer.
• Any other duties as delegated by the supervisor within the scope of the rank.
• Act as Departmental Environmental Representative if required
