Deputy Harbour Master / Pilot

I am currently looking for a Deputy Harbour Master to join a UK harbour authority on the South Coast ASAP. You will assist the Harbour Master in organising and regulating everything relating to Port Marie Safety Codes, manage safety meetings, training and exercises and run inspections and enquiries when required, into marine accidents and incidents. You will manage the safe movement of vessels within the harbour limits and ensure documentation and certification is in line with the Port Marine Safety Code.

This will be a public facing role, so you will be required to prepare all publicity and guidance literature regarding safety and information for visitors to the port both commercial and recreational. You will act as Port Facility Safety Officer by advising visiting ships on port Security and ensuring compliance with ISPS Code.

This role will also take on aspects of Pilotage within the harbour, including liaising with adjacent harbour authorities. You will be 'On Call' for Emergency response when required.

The ideal candidate for this role will have worked in a similar role for a Harbour Authority and hold a minimum of OOW Deck COC; sailing up to a more senior rank such as Chief Officer would be preferred. Experience on smaller vessels such as tugs/dredgers would be good, but not essential.
