1st Officer

For our growing team we are looking for crewmembers with cruise experience and German language skills. 

We are currently looking for 1st Officer Environmental/Assistant Safety and 1st Officer Navigational with following job profile:

1st Officer Environmental/Assistant Safety:

Environmental part:

• Monitoring environmental performance on board, including but not limited by: garbage organization & separation, adherence to established environmental procedures (hazardous, medical, photo lab chemical wastes logs, cooking oil transfer log etc.), crew awareness & knowledge (Environmental Induction for newly embark crew, specific training for incinerator operators, general knowledge);
• Calculation of garbage generation, planning of its disposal to shore facilities. Submitting to Staff Captain Pre-Arrival Waste Declaration for each port of call. Coordinating garbage offloading on days of disposal, Waste Delivery Receipts;
• Keeping Garbage Record Book up-to date, entering all ship’s discharges regulated by MARPOL Annex V;
• Monitoring Oil Record Book and Waste Water Disposal Log entries, located in ECR;
• Reading and storing data from “White Box” card, where OWS discharges recorded;
• Keeping “Potable water hoses and standing pipes” log up-to date, filing “Public health self-inspection report”;
• Coordinating monthly cleaning of Shell doors platforms and elevators shafts cleaning;
• Monthly Chemical Stock reports from departments, Chemical storage, MSDS;
• Checking upcoming cruises by itinerary for the subject of any special environmental regulations, generating “Environmental instructions” for every ship’s voyage;
• Following IPM procedures on board, acting as a Pest Control Officer, coordinating necessary treatments upon request from departments;
• ISO14001 performance reports? (with V.Ships)

Asst. Safety Part:

• Assisting Safety Officer with training of the crew, performing familiarizations and inductions for new embarked crew members;
• Assisting with Safety Management Organization on board, including: safety cards management, IPM colours, participation of crew in Drills, Trainings, Safety Tests, distribution of muster lists and emergency groups lists after crew changes and Drills, Passenger Manifests and Muster Station Lists management;
• Tendering operations as a coxswain.

1st Officer Navigational 

Watchkeeping

• In charge of navigation, anchor and port watch 04-08, 16-20.
• Preparation of the bridge for arrivals / departures as per checklists.
• Assisted by 3rd Officer (supporting his/her training ).
• Assisting Captain & Staff Captain in manoeuvers as required( Mooring Stations or Communications )
• At Anchor: Coordinating Tender operations

Overtime

• Planning the technical schedule in advance
• Planning and monitoring routes.
• Up-to-date all the Nodes ( ECDIS primary).
• Up-to-date all publications.
• Assisting Staff Captain as required.
• Assisting in manoeuvers if required.

Safety Duties

• Relieve OOW
• 1st in command in lifeboat no.2 ( Abandon Ship )
• Assisting on Pax Drills when free of watch as required.

For both positions you need to hold the chief officer licence and all relevant STCW certificates. German language skills are required.
