Position Summary

The AV Technician is responsible for the safe and proper operation of all audio, sound, light & video technology on board Scenic Eclipse.
He is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance and ensuring the proper functions of all systems in the various venues around the ship.

Responsibilities

• Operates video cameras, editing suite, and replay equipment
• Maintains video and audio programming schedules for guest public area & in-suite entertainment
• Live broadcast, records lectures, port talks and Expedition Program
• Audio, sound and lightning support for artists and invited entertainers and implementations of special events.
• Maintains background music servers ensuring the correct music is available on the ship-wide QSC system.
• Subsequent processing of picture and video materials collected on cruise(s)
• Organizing streaming events
• Exchanging content with the office and assuring legal rights are adhered to
• Taking care of photo and video equipment and content storage and backups.
• Works with IT Manager to maintain inventory supplies, spare parts and equipment for on board audio, light, sound & video technology.
• Supports IT Manager and engine department with maintenance and repair of all technical equipment for the entertainment department.
• Liaises with IT Officer to maintain the correct operation of broadcast systems.
• Ensures that all kind of entertainment content are uploaded on time and retuned to vendors as per schedule.
• Maintenance and care of the technology handed over to him, keeping order and cleanliness in his area of responsibility
• Ensures that the broadcast centre and all equipment is locked when not in use.
• Pre-setting and training of use of mobile crew devises used in Restaurant.
• Assist guests, crew and hotel department with any operational issues on in-suite TV's
• Adjusts the schedule and location independently when the overall daily operation changes.
• Provides technical support to IT Manager in the day to day operation with simpler IT tasks and client devices.
• Providing both guests and crew with entertainment technology related assistance.
• Ensure proper and thorough training on all job‐related aspects to the incoming replacement technician during the handover period.
• Incorporates company standards, personalized services and sincere hospitality by creating positive experience for guests, efficiently engaging with guests and anticipating guests needs.
• Performs all other duties as assigned and/or requested.

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years working experience on board ocean vessels.
• Good knowledge of professional audio equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
• Good knowledge of analog and digital sound & light consoles operation.
• Good knowledge in sound and light programming and scheduling.
• Good knowledge of digital audio recording systems and their operation.
• Good knowledge of electrical theory, be able to read and follow electrical and system drawings and diagrams.
• Basic knowledge of computer networking systems (LAN,WiFi), setup and troubleshoot network settings on various devices such as PC-s, tablets, mobile phones etc. ability to track, trace and resolve minor network issues.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, PC-s, printers, POS. Be able to troubleshoot and fix minor issue with computer peripherals such as printers, keyboards, switches, and smart devices.
• Knowledge of Windows installation setup up and configures desktop computers, devices driver installation and testing.
• Good troubleshooting skills and basic repair skills.
• Theatre background and experience, familiar with industry terms, standards, rules, regulations and common practices.
• DJ Knowledge and performance is welcome
• Good English skills - verbal and written. English is the working and safety language onboard Scenic Eclipse, other languages are an asset
• Must work independently, organizational and communication skills

• Valid STCW certification
