Staff Chief Engineer (Cruise) - Worldwide
Standard Role Summary:
Lead and manage the Engineering Team, ensuring planned and preventative maintenance and testing of all engine room plant and machinery on board the vessel.

Primary Responsibility of the Role:

Deputise for the Chief Engineer. Responsible for the overall performance of the engine rooms, associated main machinery and the watchkeeping and maintenance personnel. Manage, monitor, develop and train members of the team to ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with all current safety and company regulations. Effectively manage department issues including disciplinaries and grievances. Oversee and support contractors onboard, reporting on their progress and performance. Ensure all SOLAS equipment is tested and maintained accordingly and accurate maintenance and equipment records are held and maintained. Support the Chief Engineer in the maintenance and delivery of the asset management plan to ensure the ship technically meets the needs of the business, proactively identifying and implementing improvements. Liaise with shore side staff and stakeholders on relevant matters, including personnel and in emergencies. Develop and maintain good working relationships with Officers and shoreside, and keep the office updated with technical priorities and issues onboard to enable the correct support to be provided. Attend corporate sponsored social events as the figurehead of the Engineering Team.

Person Specification:

  • Completed Marine Engineering Cadetship with at least an HND or Foundation Degree
  • Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency (CoC)
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • STCW Basic Training certificates, as well as Advanced Fire Fighting and Medical First Aid
  • STCW Survival Craft and Rescue Boat other than Fast Rescue Boat certificate
  • High Voltage Management Certificate
