We are currently recruiting for experienced STAFF CHIEF ENGINEER ready to join SCENIC ECLIPSE
Embarkation at the 08/March/2020
Contract 3 months on/off rotation
Salary in Euros/per month worked
Required: Chief Engineer unlimited CoC, experienced as STAFF C/E on cruise, valid certificates, good previous records.

Authority
To assist the Chief Engineer, ensuring the efficient flow of information and instructions for the proper maintenance and care of the ship's equipment and technical spaces.
The Chief Engineer and the Staff Chief Engineer shall never be away from the ship at the same time. The Staff Chief Engineer shall therefore obtain the Chief Engineer's permission prior to leaving the ship, read and understand Chief Engineer's standing orders.

Functions and Responsibility

The Staff Chief Engineer functions and responsibility shall include, but not be limited to:

▪ Issue work assignments to the Engineering Officers and Ratings.
▪ To ensure that Engineering Officers and Ratings receive adequate training
▪ To prepare short-term and long-term plans for machinery maintenance and repair work, subject to approval by the Chief Engineer.
▪ To monitor maintenance and testing of safety and emergency installations.
▪ Shall always coordinate with the First Officer Jr. Safety in safety matters
▪ To prepare lists of required spare parts and engine department supplies, approved by the Chief Engineer.
▪ To keep continuous checks on stocks of spare parts and see to the receipt, checking, safe storage, and registry of new consignments.
▪ To update the Maintenance System by recording what maintenance work has been performed, including consumption and replacement of spare parts.
▪ To provide assistance to other departments onboard in connection with operational breakdowns requiring repairs and maintenance work of a technical nature.
▪ To conduct daily inspections of the engine room and technical spaces.
▪ To assist in the preparation of budget proposals for the engine department.

Specific responsibilities:

▪ Main engines in cooperation with responsible 2nd Engineer
▪ Air conditioning systems, coolers/freezers, and ice machines.
▪ Propellers and associated equipment
▪ Steering gear and associated equipment (hydraulic plant only)
▪ Bow thruster (hydraulic plant only)
▪ Lifeboat engines and technical equipment in cooperation with Hotel Engineer
▪ Swimming pools and Jacuzzis
▪ Galley and pantry equipment in cooperation with Electrician
▪ Marina mechanical and hydraulic installations

▪ Bilge and ballast system in cooperation with 2nd Engineer in charge
▪ Hydraulic power pack - water tight doors
▪ Laundry equipment and systems in cooperation with Electrician
▪ Watertight door systems and Fixed firefighting systems (CO2 to galley exh.duct)
▪ Side port mechanisms
▪ Control of bunker stations, including valves and pipelines
▪ Lifting equipment and cranes
