Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines – a family run company well known for quality cruises on modestly sized vessels and for the personal touch we offer our guests, that are predominantly from the UK and many of whom return year after year.
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced 2nd Engineer Senior to work on board of our vessels.
The 2nd Engineer Senior is responsible for but not limited:
- Daily calibration and necessary maintenance of equipment for freshwater, including RO plant;
- Maintenance and daily operation of grey water, sewage and black water plants (EVAC system);
- Maintenance and daily operation of oil water separator, ballast water treatment system, scrubbers;
- Assist with the upkeep of lifeboat / tender propulsion machinery, hydraulics, damage control equipment and emergency generator engine;
- Emergency maintenance periods to ease man deployment problems as require;
- Awareness of, and distribution and regular reporting of maintenance and purchasing routines in to Amos-Win according to specified responsibilities within the Planned Maintenance System;
- Monitoring of spare parts stored and required for various sections of the machinery plant, within areas of responsibility;
- Maintain an overview of the sludge and bilge operations, offering as assistance as required;
- 2nd Engineer Senior may require to perform the role of Hotel Engineer, and so must be familiar with Job Description of Hotel Engineer;
- On duty as per the Company guidelines and available to supervise/assist fitter/plumber on passenger service problems when off duty;
Candidates must have:
- A valid unlimited National Engineer Officer License as per STCW code A-III/3 working in the capacity of 2nd Engineer on-board cruise ship;
- STCW Basic Safety Training;
- Human Element, Leadership and Management (HELM);
- High Voltage Certificate (Minimum Operational level);
- Excellent leadership and decision making skills along with ability to work under pressure in a multicultural environment;
- The ability to work independently and as an effective member of a small team.
- Experience in ensuring that systems and equipment within every sub-division of the Engine Department are operating correctly and are maintained up to the highest possible standards of the cruise line and international regulations - main and auxiliary engines, generators, electrical and electronic systems, communication systems, heating, cooling, ventilation systems, plumbing, waste management systems, and the machinery in the lifeboats and rescue boats;
- The ability to read, write and speak English clearly and distinctly, and the ability to communicate with guests and crew in a professional manner.

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
