Field Trip (Shore Excursion) Coordinator, Aegean Odyssey - Road Scholar

The Field Trip (Shore Excursion) Coordinator, Aegean Odyssey reports to the Field Trip (Shore Excursion) Manager, Aegean Odyssey and is responsible for operating field trips (shore excursions) as outlined in the technical itinerary, liaising with participants, Group Leaders, and vendors. The Field Trip (Shore Excursion) Coordinator will be employed through the Aegean Odyssey and be part of the on-board leadership team. A Maritime Training course is applicable for this position and all applicants must have STCW certificates. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Prepare and distribute information such as program participation forms, field trip tickets (when required), local maps and port guides
• Support Field Trip Management with operating and delivering a myriad of high-quality daily educational field trips with differing activity levels
• Update vendors with status updates on participant counts and scheduling
• Staff the Field Trip Department Desk on a rotating basis
• Answer participant questions about the daily schedule and ensure that it is kept updated of any changes/alterations made to the itinerary
• Dispatch escorting of the field trips and report problems or complaints to the Field Trip Management
• Integrate with participants both during field trip and whilst carrying out duties on board

Other Responsibilities:

• Assist the Field Trip Management with scheduling all participant disembarkation and embarkation arrangements at the beginning and end of the cruise
• Assist the RS Field Trip Director/Field Trip Manager with preparing post program reports on the quality of the field trips and service provided by field trip operators and tour guides
• Develop working knowledge of ports, including field trips, independent activities, and places of interest, history, and culture
• Carry out all safety related duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Competencies

• Shore excursion or tour operator experience preferred
• Experience in an educational and/or travel program environment a plus and/or experience working with individuals 55+ and handling different levels of physical ability preferred.
• Strong communication skills a must
• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience strongly preferred
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving skills
• Ability to work with a team and collaborate and share best practices.
