Welcome to The Olsen Way.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity.

But this is not for us.

We believe there is another way to cruise. A way that is based on five generations of seafaring.

Where cabins are called cabins and ships look like ships.

Where the journey is as important as the destination.

In our world, smaller is better, and we believe in keeping the experience on board uncrowded, warm and civilised - treating passengers as guests, like the family run business we are.

It would be easy to follow the trends and go with the crowds. But we never will.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is a family run company, well known for our quality cruises and the ‘personal’ touch we offer our guests.

The Deputy Entertainment Manager supports the Entertainment Manager in the correct implementation of the cruise plan by supervising and supporting the Entertainment team, taking charge of the departmental staffing schedule to ensure the product is delivered to expected company standards.

Applicants should possess the following skills and qualities:

  • This is a pivotal position, therefore we are seeking a confident, approachable and enthusiastic individual, who will demonstrate an excellent understanding of customer expectations;
  • Being able to work often under pressure and in unusual working hours for specific event or show set up. You will be responsible for the delivery of the Entertainments program and service excellence at all times;
  • You should be able to work comfortably in a multi-cultural environment, to conduct appraisals and implement development plans if required. Preferably with experience combined supervision of 10 – 30 staff;
  • Leading by example, you must be highly organised, methodical, and articulate in dealing with all manner of customer expectations, yet ever respectful of your fellow crew and officers’ agendas and priorities;
  • As our ideal candidate, you will have certificate/degree in hospitality management or events and entertainment management. A minimum of 2 years in middle managerial experience in the entertainment department, ideally gained on a cruise ship or in the hospitality sector such as upscale hotel, resort or recreational venue;
  • You will speak and write fluent English and possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Computer literacy is essential and good time management. Your personal presentation should be professional and immaculate at all times.

In return, you will receive a competitive salary and a 3:1 work rotation of three months on board followed by one month of leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on board our cruise ships, travelling to worldwide destinations whilst enhancing our guests' holiday experience. This is your chance to give our guests the experience of a lifetime!
