Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, the Schulte Group has offices in 30 locations around the world and focuses on two core business areas, ship owning and ship management. The Group owns about 100 vessels and manages about 600 ships through the employment of over 20,000 seafarers and 3,000 shore based employees.

For our growing fleet, we are currently searching for a Staff Captain - Cruise

The responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Captain’s deputy and 2nd in command of the ship.
  • Senior Management Team member and Head of the Deck Department.
  • Bridge Resource Team member arrival, departures, critical conditions, etc
  • Ensure safe operation of the vessel at all times
  • Crew compliance with safe working practices
  • Safe navigation during watchkeeping
  • Safe and efficient cargo operations and documentation
  • Head of the Deck Department.
  • Member of the Ship Safety Committee
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Medical Department.
  • Designated Ship’s Security Officer
  • Public Health Monitoring
  • Deck maintenance planning, supervision and execution
  • Ship Handling (Manoeuvring, drifting, conning, docking)
  • In charge of all mooring operations
  • Safe and effective conduct of Tender Operations
  • Issue and enforcement of appropriate permits to work
  • Ship’s stress and stability, damage control calculations
  • Ballast management maintenance, notifications, exchange, operations supported by Environmental Officer
  • Tank maintenance supported by Compliance Officer
  • Efficient operation of the Key System supported by Chief Security
  • Deck Department Inventory Control supported by responsible Officers
  • Crew training and development
  • Crew appraisal process
  • Designated as the Company’s representative for Crew welfare
  • Discipline on board
  • Water Treatment Monitoring, Fresh water supply, quality, consumption, storage and facilities.
  • Onboard Emergency Coordination & Response (Central Command)
  • Safe launching of lifeboats and rescue boats
  • Speaking up if/when unsafe practices or conditions are identified
  • Garbage Management supported by Environmental Officer
  • Attend and contribute to Passenger Activities including dinner, gala, crew introduction, farewell, etc.
  • Report any Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts, Accidents and/or Dangerous Occurrences to the Master with recommended corrective actions
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • National Certificate of Competency (Master Licence)
  • Strong leadership skills and previous cruise ship experience
