Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing technical support to the assigned ships as assigned by the Manager, Powerplant Services. The Superintendent, Powerplant will serve as the deputy for this position.

Career Snapshot:

  • Support onboard repair and maintenance. Maintain direct communication with the vessels, including frequent visits to assist in the operation of Power Plant machinery and equipment.
  • In cooperation with the Powerplant Manager, ensure that technically related incidents, damages and claims are properly investigated and reported.
  • Assist with dry dock planning related to guarantee items
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and record any problems as well as provide solutions relating to the product, process and quality systems.
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming products until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Keep the assigned Managers and Superintendents updated of activities on their respective ships and coordinate all major projects.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the assigned function, including the successful identification of expense reduction through cost efficiencies. Work with the appropriate Operational Team to ensure the proper financial allocations are assigned based on the timely and necessary Technical repairs/ upgrades/ enhancements.
  • Ability to effectively motivate, communicate and influence teamwork and continuous improvement at all levels of the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years diesel engine installation commissioning including marine and power plant.
  • Combined 10 plus years marine or cruise ship experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.  

Preferences:

  • Chief Engineer License preferred.
