Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing daily technical support and giving guidance to the Chief Refrigeration Engineer to operate, optimize the HVAC plant in the most efficient and energy saving way. Supervise and follow up bigger repairs, refurbishing, replacement, additional installations, modifications, upgrading, modernization and retro fitting of HVAC installations fleet wide.

- Support the Chief Refrigeration Engineer in all operational issues, repairs, maintenance and dry docking planning.
- Plan and supervise overhauls of HVAC machinery such as air condition compressors, provision compressors, heat exchangers, air handlers, duct cleaning and repairs.
- Make recommendations for HVAC budget planning.
- Ensure proper training of promotion candidate for Chief Refrigeration position.
- Follow up with audit and the use of MBQ onboard.
- Ensure that ships are operated in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies with special attention given to safety, security and protection of the environment.
- Be informed and up-to-date about technical research and projects that are applicable, see information and evaluate new technology for use onboard cruise ships and run test programs on such equipment together with ships personnel as directed by the Manager.
- Maintain daily communication with Manager, HVAC services in regards to technical guidance, always taking prompt positive action on all feedback information.
- Observe and evaluate ships HVAC personnel work procedures to ensure quality standards and service are met.
- Participate in succession planning, training, evaluation and development for HVAC personnel shipboard.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in Marine Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years' experience in Marine HVAC Engineering and operation of passenger ships most recently in a management position.
- Working knowledge of Windows NT, Microsoft Word and Excel. Internet and e-mail literate with ability to send and receive and attached files as required.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
- Must be proactive, organized and have the ability to take initiative.
- Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- This job may be required to travel more than 100 days per year.
Preferences:
- Ability to communicate effectively with various departments within the organization, both shipboard and shore side. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, discounts, interest and commissions.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance, as well as foreign exchange rates.
