Your responsibilities

  • Management and organisation of technical operations on board
  • Performing HR tasks within your area of responsibility
  • Compliance with all deadlines for class confirmation/renewal
  • Ensuring that the main and auxiliary propulsion systems and other technical systems are ready for operation
  • Commissioning, operating and monitoring machinery on board; responding to alarms
  • Servicing machinery, including regular inspections
  • Performing scheduled maintenance
  • Advising the captain on technical and economic matters
  • Consulting with HM on the performance and status of troubleshooting activities in the hotel area
  • Drawing up repair requirements and dockyard lists
  • Updating technical documentation
  • Ordering fuels, lubricants and necessary spare parts
  • Disposing of the above-named materials in accordance with MARPOL
  • Compliance with environmental regulations in your area of responsibility
  • Keeping machine and oil logs in compliance with official regulations
  • Regular fuel and coolant checks
  • Expanding the work area handbook as per guidelines and in cooperation with the shipping line; optimisation and further development of work processes and standards
  • Keeping watch when the ship is moored

Your profile

  • Specialised training in the engine or metal industry
  • Experience of riverboats or ocean-going ships an advantage
  • Management experience an advantage
  • Knowledge of marine technology (air-conditioning, vacuum pump system, electrical systems)
  • Good organisational skills
  • Sound knowledge of German
  • Diplomatic demeanour; serious, open, calm and friendly manner
