We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a 2nd Officer for the Deck Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Main Responsibilities:

Preparation of safe Passage Plans and related record keeping
Regular checks, tests and maintenance of navigational and radio equipment
Management and updates of navigational charts and publications, including electronic updates
Maintenance of Bridge manuals, documentation and records including logbooks as assigned
Preparation of technical schedules
Preparation of navigational chart for Tender Coxswains, when required
Voyage data reports, as required
Preparation of Bridge Resource Management meetings
Compliance with safe working practices
Speaking up / stopping work when unsafe acts or conditions are identified
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

 Act as:

Ship’s tender coxswain when required
Other roles as assigned by the Master and 2iC

 Other duties and responsibilities:

Form part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organization and muster lists)
Report any non-conformities or defects if/when discovered
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Master and 2iC

 Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements as per company certification matrix
Up-to-date technical knowledge of navigation equipment
Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
Strong communication skills
Diligence and punctuality
People management skills including but not limited to:
Leadership
Conflict-resolution
Active listening
Patience
Ability to work well with multinational crew
Neat appearance
As per cruise operator’s requirements:
Additional language skills
If being promoted to NavO, please refer to Promotion Criteria
If new hire as NavO:
12 months of actual sea service in same position as applied for
At least two excellent appraisal reports or references

Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
