A Port Shopping Expert will cruise to the most scenic and sought after corners of the earth, putting their sales, marketing and public speaking skills to work, while carving out a rewarding career. Draped in the finest jewelry, a Port Shopping Expert will guide their cruise ship guests to the best shopping onboard and in port. They are the key source of knowledge and expertise on all things luxury, especially jewelry and diamonds, and use their magnetic personalities and gifts of persuasion to help their guests find something they love.

You will be the face of the brand, our local onboard ‘celebrity’, the Port Shopping Expert, you will captivate their audiences in various engagements onboard. They will host an onstage Shopping Show in the ship’s main theatre as well as in-store events, seminars and one on one consultations where they will introduce the phenomenal shopping opportunities during the cruise!

Requirements: 

  • Strong & clear communication skills, ability to take constructive feedback, and a great work ethic
  • Self-motivated, target driven & a great team player
  • Thrives under pressure
  • Focused and driven to achieve professional and personal goals
  • Always ready to adapt to change, improvise, innovate, and take initiative
  • Ship experience is preferred but not a requirement
  • Luxury Sales Experience or Fine Jewelry sales advantageous
  • Strong command of English - advantage additional languages (Japanese, German, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, French)
  • Self-apply and learn about jewelry, gemstones, and all that is the brand
  • Expected to host live events onboard, in all venues around the ship, in-store, in the theater, and on TV
  • On the microphone constantly, need to learn scripts, and also connect with guests one-on-one

Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for all marketing aspects of the Shopping Program; Onboard Marketing entails completing the Marketing Grid, Cruise Compass changes, Digi Messages and providing a TV Schedule to Broadcast before start of the cruise
  • Organize all Port Shopping events - venue and events, this includes preparation, execution and follow up after all events are finalized. Events include: Shopping show, Diamonds & Gemstone seminar, desk hours and in-store events
  • Work alongside entire team to drive traffic into stores
  • Handle all onboard management relationships with ultimate care and professionalism
  • Participate in all onboard revenue meetings and recommend new marketing opportunities, products, and operational efficiencies through the M&R Manager
  • Manage all on shore partnerships through effective professional skills and communication.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, for all guests and company clients alike.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding the Company’s port gross revenue targets each voyage.
  • Manage the Port Shopping desk/location effectively and professionally respond to guest questions on shopping opportunities ashore.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all aspects of port retail stores and local information as well as a thorough understanding of all boutique categories/brands and promotions.
  • Promptly and professionally handle all guest complaints, refunds, and exchange requests relative to the participating port stores.
  • Demonstrate to every guest that their satisfaction is top priority by immediately acknowledging every request, responding promptly and effectively to resolve guest concerns, following up with guests as appropriate, and escalating to HQ management when necessary.
