I have positions available for Learning & Development Consultants and Managers on some of the largest cruise lines in the world.

This person onboard is a strategic partner who influences the development of Shipboard employees through the application of professional learning and development initiatives. They conduct needs analysis and creates plans to enhance productivity, improve business performance and promote a learning and development culture.

Responsibilities:
30% Training:
• Provides or creates training for crew and leaders including but not limited to: (New Hire Onboarding Program), Service Excellence refreshers, and any other department specific training requested by the shipboard leaders.
• Facilitates crew culture and service trainings as well as new hire programming initiatives working with department leaders to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
• Delivers dynamic and impactful training sessions and provides ongoing support that ensures successful transfer of knowledge that drives individual and team effectiveness.

40% Leadership Support and Development:
• Conducts Train the Trainer program (T3), Leadership Bootcamp (LBC), Getting Started as a New Leader (GSNL), E-Cornell Roundtables, Conducting Performance Appraisals (ACDPA), Training modules from the ALPS program or created by request from operations.
• Provides professional development training to onboard crew and leaders to maintain and improve overall effectiveness and business performance.
• Partners with leadership on needs to identify performance gaps and implement solutions to maximize performance and achieve measurable results in crew satisfaction (leadership aspects), guest satisfaction and other business KPIs.
• Supports onboard leaders through the talent management process of assessing individual performance, creating personalized development plans, and establishing team succession plans.
• Coaches onboard leaders on recognizing opportunities for “on the spot coaching” and how to provide consistent effective feedback.
• Facilitates dynamic and impactful leadership training sessions and provides ongoing support that ensures successful transfer of knowledge to drive individual and team effectiveness.
• Ensures recognition techniques & funds are utilized as tools for leaders to motivate teams.
• Conducts Train the Trainer sessions with middle management, onboard trainers and provides ongoing feedback to improve effectiveness of training methods and delivery. A key focus on the transfer of job-specific knowledge and skill to crewmembers, and to assist managers and supervisors in maintaining brand operational standards.

30% HR Support & Office Hours:
• Supports talent progression through career plans and the internal pipeline process. Assists with embarkation, provides support to HR Director, and schedules necessary training sessions.
• Supports leaders at all levels and guides them through the process of creating and executing personal development plans. Systematically follows up on plans to encourage ongoing focus and shared accountability between the department leader and the crew member on the plan.
• Creates and executes customized learning sessions that addresses performance/behavioural gaps for all crew and leaders.
• Coaches all leaders on how to more effectively champion Brand Standards and Culture sharing accountability with threading it into meetings, coaching, and daily operations.
• Attends Department & Leadership meetings as needed to observe, share, and provide insight relating to development activities. To process couple ID request in line with the SOP guidance through support visibility of the HR Director.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited university or college in Learning & Development, Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology or related field is desirable. A Post Graduate or Professional Association Certificate in Adult Learning and Development is essential.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR professional specializing in Learning and Organizational Development in an upscale hotel, cruise line or corporate organization.
• Experience in applying adult learning principles and consulting, coaching, mentoring, and training techniques.
• Exhibits passion for constant learning and demonstrates an eagerness to share that passion with others along with the ability to understand and convey business priorities and use compelling arguments to gain support and commitment.
• Highly proficient in MS Office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and comfortable learning other required systems.
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests and crew.
• Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers. In accordance with this is the ability to write reports and letters grammatically correct in English.
