Able Bodied Seaman

We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a Able Bodied Seaman for the Deck Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

Form part of a safe navigational watch
Steering and lookout duties under supervision of OOW and/or Master, including working with pilots
Tender boat crew operations
Rough weather securing of equipment and material as required.
Surface preparation and maintenance including:
Painting
Safe use of hand tools, pneumatic and electric tools, and equipment
Inspection of equipment before use
Use of correct PPE
Compliance with Permits to Work that are in force.
Compliance with safe working practices
Speaking up and/or stopping work when unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Carry out any shipboard activities as directed by the Bosun or ship’s officers, including but not limited to:

Cleanliness and appearance of open decks and exterior areas of the vessel
Movement / operation of cranes
Duties at mooring and anchor stations
Handling and stowage of stores, spares and consumables
Maintenance and repairs
Training of junior deck ratings
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the HoDD and Bosun

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude
