We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a Engine Fitter for the Engine Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

Carry out activities including but not limited to welding, soldering, brazing, gas cutting, use of lathe machine and pipe fitting within skill level and in controlled environments.
Carry out planned maintenance on machinery and equipment as assigned.
Comply with Safe Hot Work Procedures
Diagnose and rectify faults within skill level.
Maintain engine workshop including:
Keeping inventory of stores and tools
Maintenance and control of power tools including electrical safety.
Advising SiC-E of any shortages
Workshop tidiness
Compliance with Permits to Work that are in force.
Compliance with safe working practices
Speaking up and/or stopping work when unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Assist:
SiC-E with operational and maintenance planning
HoDD as required.
HoHTD as required.
With crew training as required

Other duties and responsibilities:

Form part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organisation)
Promote good working relationships on board.
Ship security duties.
Environmental compliance
Participate in emergency training and drills.
Report any non-conformities or defects.
Keep and promote high standards of discipline and behaviour.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the SiC-E
If assigned as Senior Fitter act as supervisor for the team

Minimum Qualifications:

Nationally recognised certificates for skills required.
Other requirements as per company certification matrix
Working knowledge of engine equipment, deck machinery and hotel technical equipment
Good knowledge of safety requirements
Good verbal and written command of the English language
Diligence and punctuality
Ability to work well with multinational crew.
Neat appearance

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude
• Employee focused with a positive personality and professional attitude

Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
