Assistant Security Guard

We are pleased to announce that we are looking to hire a Assistant Security Guard for the Deck Department, working for the BSMCruise managed vessels.

Your responsibility will include, but will not be limited to:

Main Responsibilities:

Security functional operations as indicated in Ship Security Plan and as directed by SSO and HoSD
Conduct regular security rounds.
Maintain security checkpoints for embarkation/disembarkation of personnel and security of baggage.
Operate and monitor CCTV systems.
Perform security inspections of crew accommodation.
Maintain all security logs.
Establish crowd control procedures as directed.
Respond to any security breach if discovered.
Interact with passengers in a professional and friendly manner.
Compliance with safe working practices
Speaking up and/or stopping work if/when unsafe practices or conditions are identified.
Compliance with BSM’s SMS and international standards and regulations

Assist with:

Security investigations when required.
Security training when required.
Security of confidential material

Other duties and responsibilities:

Form part of the emergency response team (specific duties as per ship’s emergency organisation)
Ship security duties.
Environmental compliance
Participate in emergency training and drills on deck.
Report any non-conformities or defects.
Keep and promote high standards of discipline and behaviour.
Provide passenger assistance and guidance in emergencies.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the 2iC, SSO and HoSD
If assigned as Senior Security Guard act as supervisor for the team

Qualifications:

Requirements as per company certification matrix
Up-to-date technical knowledge of security equipment
Good verbal and written command of the English language
Strong communication skills
Diligence and punctuality
Ability to work well with multinational crew.
Welcoming and friendly attitude to passengers
Confidence to enforce security rules and regulations for all passengers and crew
Neat appearance

Key Attributes:
• Previous shipboard experience or relevant experience in similar position
• Fluent in English – must have excellent oral and written communication skills
• Flexibility – must be able to work various times of the day, remain calm under pressure and have a can-do attitude
• Employee focused with a positive personality and professional attitude
