Engine Fitter

Job summary:

We are seeking a skilled Engine Fitter to join our team onboard our cruise ship. The Engine Fitter is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of various mechanical systems and equipment.

Key responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Repair: conduct routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on mechanical equipment such as HVAC systems, plumbing and fixtures. Diagnose issues, troubleshoot, and replace or repair faulty components. Tasks include repairing metal work, welding, repairing pipelines, pumps, compressors, valves, restoring shafts, and polishing valves and atomizers.
• Installation and Upgrades: install new equipment and systems, fit and align components, connect pipes, cables, wires and ensure proper integration with existing systems.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a fitter, mechanic or maintenance technician
• Experienced in using a range of tools and equipment, including: lathes, milling and drilling machines, thermal heating and cutting equipment, welding equipment, tools for marking, pressing, cutting, grinding, planing, boring, and drilling objects
• Strong technical skills in electrical plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Proficiency in English

Required certification:

• STCW Basic Safety Training (BST), Personal survival techniques (PST), Fire prevention and firefighting (PPFF), Elementary first aid (EFA), Personal safety and social responsibilities (PSSR)
• Certificate of Competency III/5
• Designated Security Duties (A-VI/6-2)
• Crowd Management Training
• Medical Certificate (valid and compliant with STCW and flag state standards)
• Seaman’s book
• Passport (min. validity 6 months)
• Schengen Visa is a plus (if required by embarkation port or vessel itinerary)
• Yellow fever vaccination (only in high-risk trade areas)
• Measles vaccination (only in high-risk trade areas)
• Covid vaccination (WHO approved fully vaccinated / booster recommended)
