V.Ships Leisure is looking for International Hostess on behalf of Silversea Cruises.
Assists  the  Cruise  Director  in  delivering  high  quality,  individualized  and  technically  excellent entertainment services for guests whilst complying with any Company Policies and towards a goal of achieving total guest satisfaction. Reporting to the Cruise Director and Assistant Cruise Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures a friendly, jovial and positive attitude with guests at all times.
  • Visits and constantly walks all areas of the vessel to proactively engage with guests in order to identify their expectations and needs fulfilling them  promptly. Verify the smooth running  of any entertainment activities, acting on and following up any issues found to ensure that standards are not affected.
  • Provides daily briefings to all guests and in particular to non-English speaking guests regarding available tours and assists guests with general questions regarding activities on board.
  • Accompanies international guests on tour and translates as needed.
  • Staffs International Desk one hour per day to assist international guests with any enquiries.
  • Socializes with guests when in public rooms.
  •  Introduces guests to the Captain and other Senior Officers.
  • Attends door greets, welcomes guests entering and exiting the theater for evening shows.
  • Assists the Assistant Cruise Director/Cruise Director with administrative matters as required. 
  • Translates the Silversea Chronicles and assists with the translation of menu items.
  • Prepares requisitions for consumable items required for the entertainment department. 
  • Maintains gifts and prizes inventory and coordinates orders with the Assistant Cruise Director/Cruise Director and the entertainment department.
  • Maintains Library (books and dvd) as well as the Card Room and coordinates orders with the Assistant Cruise Director/Cruise Director and the entertainment department.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of items in all entertainment areas. 
  • Hosts activities such as arts and crafts seminars and social get togethers.
  • Displays a thorough knowledge of the ships daily activities to be able to advise the guests. 
  • Provides foreign language classes to all guests.
  • Hosts tables in the dining room on most evenings with special care given to dining with different guests, and especially guests traveling solo.
  • Arranges and accompanies individual bridge tours for all guests.
  • Attends  Welcome/First  Timers/Venetian/Farewell  Cocktail  parties  and  other  social  events  as scheduled by the ship’s management.
  • Embarkation,  disembarkation  and  tour  dispatch  duties  in  cooperation  with  the  Guest  Relations Manager and Shore Concierge Manager.
  • Assists with the induction of new crew.
  • Keeps the Cruise Director promptly and fully informed of all problems and matters of significance.
  • Adjusts schedule and location independently when the overall daily operation changes.
  • Incorporates Company service standards, personalized service and sincere hospitality by creating positive experiences for guests, efficiently engaging with guests and anticipating guest needs. 
  • Performs all other duties as requested by supervisor.
  • Participates in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions. 
  • Always  complies  with  the  Company’s  safety  and  pollution  prevention  regulations  and  operating procedures.
  • Participates in all mandatory training. 
  • Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others. 
  • Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly. Delivering training, guidance and supervision on how to use and maintain them. 


Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Valid STCW certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Tourism preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience at international 5-star establishment.
  • Strong organizational and people skills.
  • Physically and medically fit.
  • Moral integrity is required.
  • Excellent fluent English (verbal and written). English is the working and safety language on board Silversea vessels. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. 
  • Excellent fluent (verbal and written) knowledge of preferably two other languages (German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese). 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Fidelio and Quark.
