V.Ships Leisure is looking for Human Resources Specialist on behalf of Azamara Cruises.
The Human Resources Specialist serves as one of the first contracts in Human Resources for crewmembers to provide resource, information and support as needed in the areas of, crew welfare, fitness, recreational activities and training. Maintains an awareness of the shipboard employee morale and gathers information to make recommendations to maintain a positive environment.   

The HR Specialist should be familiar with the Crew Administrators duties and responsibilities and be prepared to participate in supporting the Human Resources division as needed. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides daily administrative support to the Human Resources Manager and Crew Administrator.   
  • Updates the Human Resources notice boards, in conjunction with the Human Resources Manager and Crew Administrator.   
  • Plan and execute activities for the crew; recreational activities for crew, including external excursions, evening activities and monthly crew parties. Responsible for and monitors, all private crew functions request in designated areas. 
  • Acts as chairperson of the Crew Welfare Committee and is a member of the Food Committee. 
  • Maintains and audit an updated inventory of the Crew Welfare items such as bingo prizes and activities items with coordination with HR Manager for purchasing.  
  • Manages and maintains the crew welfare budget file, place order and facilitate the communication after the necessary approval is obtained. 
  • Processes crew payments for extra jobs, such as party set up and clean up.  Also responsible to process MXP charges for items purchased by crew, such as bingo tickets.  
  • Sorts and distributes crewmember’s mail in accordance with company guidelines.  
  • Organizes and administers the weekly cabin inspections maintaining compliance with MLC, creating a regular report regarding cabin maintenance and repair of crew members equipment and facilities, follow up and follow through the issues.  
  • Assist the Crew Administrator with issuing and replacing Crew ID using Fidelio and Cabin Ving cards as needed. 
  • Assist the Crew Administrator in the crew sign-on/off process or itinerary driven full crew check with preparation and passport/shore pass distribution. 
  • Delivers company training in accordance with company guidelines, including but not limited to “STAR Values”, “Go Further” and “New Hire Orientation”.  
  • Organizing and administer the process for “STAR of the Moment”, “STAR of the Month”, “STAR Leader of the Quarter” and “Super STAR of the Year” recognition programs.  
  • Update the Crew Channel for Port and Crew information.  
  • Regular walk through of Crew areas such as hallway, corridors, gym and lockers, for any maintenance or safety observation and report any findings if needed.  
  • In collaboration with Security and Safety, leads the development of a monthly calendar.  
  • Shipboard employees will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their supervisor or management.  
  • This position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment. 



Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Two years human resources experience with a background in employee relations, labor relations, and training or related field pertaining to employee morale and wellness, fitness and/or compliance issues.  
  • Advanced ability to work within the MS Office software program such as Word, Excel, and Power Point is required.  
  • Ability to understand general mathematical equations in Excel, and budget reports.  
  • Experience in a medium to large hotel, resort or in hospitality industry equivalent is preferred.  
  • Ability to present, with excellent public speaking skills to groups of 20 or more.  
  • Ability to conduct activities, to enhance moral and/or associated training programs.  
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of ethnic, and cultural diversity.  
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field or international equivalent preferred.  
  • Complete one contract, with a performance rating of meets expectations of above along with demonstrated leadership skills.  
  • No disciplinary action on file for the last 12 months. 
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with guests. 
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. 
  • This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers. 
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, or German is preferred.
