Position Summary:

Responsible for technical support within heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to Marine Operation shipboard and shore side. Monitor the condition and operation of the HVAC plant in the fleet. Manage development and suggest improvements, including financial control. Identify and implement best practices across the fleet. A nominated HVAC Superintendent will serve as Deputy for this position.

Career snapshot: 

  • Provides technical support to Marine Operation and new build project regarding heating, ventilation, provision, catering, ice skating arena equipment and whole air conditioning plant.

  • Supervise HVAC Superintendents and give guidance to Chief Refrigeration Engineers how to operate, optimize the HVAC plant in the most efficient and energy saving way.

  • Support and make recommendations to Marine Operation with financial control over relevant accounts. 4. Make recommendations for improvements to HVAC systems in the areas of quality, cost, efficiency and safety. Studies and recommend HVAC equipment and design solutions for the various projects.

  • Coordinates and keep updated guidelines for design and standards for all HVAC matters.

  • Ensure that ships are operated in accordance with applicable regulations and company policies with special attention given to safety, security and protection of the environment.

  • Source and recommend repairs, refurbishing, replacements, additional installations, modifications, upgrading, modernization and retro fitting of HVAC installation on all vessels.

  • Remain informed and up-to-date about technical research and projects that are applicable.

  • Seek information and evaluate new technology for use onboard RCI ships.
     


Requirements:

  • 15 years in Marine HVAC Engineering in the passenger ship building industry or operation, most recently in a management position.
  • Able to travel 30-60 days., depending on itinerary

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in Marine Engineering preferred
