Electrician to Passenger Cruise Ship

Duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Electrical System Maintenance and Repair
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance on generators, motors, circuit breakers, and switchboards.
Repair faulty wiring, outlets, and fixtures throughout the ship.
2. Emergency and Safety Systems
Inspect and maintain emergency lighting systems and exit signage.
Ensure fire detection, suppression systems, and alarms are electrically functional.
Support the operation and maintenance of emergency power systems and UPS units.
3. HVAC and Auxiliary Equipment Support
Assist with electrical servicing of HVAC systems, ventilation fans, and refrigeration units.
Maintain laundry, galley (kitchen), and water treatment plant equipment electrically.
4. Bridge and Navigation Systems (Depending on Rank)
Support bridge equipment, radar, and communication systems in cooperation with electronic officers or engineers.
Maintain power supply to navigation lights and signaling systems.
5. Guest and Crew Area Support
Respond to electrical issues in passenger cabins and crew quarters.
Troubleshoot and maintain systems in entertainment venues, restaurants, elevators, and spas.
6. Energy Efficiency and Documentation
Monitor power usage and help implement energy-saving practices.
Maintain accurate logs and reports on maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Use ship’s maintenance management software (like AMOS or NS5) for reporting and scheduling.
7. Compliance and Safety Protocols
Ensure compliance with international maritime standards (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code).
Participate in safety drills, especially related to electrical fires and system failures.
Work under the direction of the Chief Electrician or Electrical Engineer.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical diploma III/7 or degree in electrical engineering or marine electrical systems.
Maritime electrical experience (often 2–3 years minimum on ships).
Knowledge of PLCs, marine switchgear, and high-voltage systems (for some roles).
Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in rotating shifts.
Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
