We are looking for an experienced chef to join our team. You will ensure our staff enjoys tasty, nutritious meals at one of our unique locations—a floating hotel!
Who We Are
Slaapschepen provides the full service process for accommodation in different types of vessels to third-party companies, from chartering to its final return. We offer full support throughout the accommodation period. As long as there is water near the destination, we can supply ships for temporary housing.
What You’ll Do
As an independent chef, you’ll be responsible, together with the rest of the Galley team, for preparing lunch and dinner for our international employees on board, around 30 people in total. You’ll also be the first point of contact in the kitchen for our hotel manager. Your tasks will include:
Preparing nutritious, fresh buffet-style meals within a set budget.
Working according to HACCP guidelines.
Daily and weekly cleaning of the galley and buffet area.
Maintaining kitchen appliances.
Managing kitchen inventory.
Preparing orders for suppliers.
Your Profile
Completed culinary training at MBO level, with at least 2 years of kitchen experience, preferably on a river or sea vessel or in hotels.
Good knowledge of allergies and dietary requirements.
Strong understanding of HACCP regulations.
High enthusiasm for the profession.
Good command of English; Dutch is a plus.
Experience with buffet-style catering is a plus.
Experience cooking for various nationalities is a plus.
Having an STCW-Basic certificate is a plus; otherwise, you must be willing to obtain it at Slaapschepen’s expense.
What You Can Expect From Us
The project duration is four years. We offer a 7-month contract with the possibility of yearly extensions. Additionally, we provide:
40-hour work week (8 hours/day; 2 days off a week)
A versatile role in a pleasant working environment with room for personal input.
Salary between €2,949.20 and €3,666.96 gross per month based on 40 hours/week (scale 7 according to the general hospitality collective labor agreement).
25 vacation days per year for full-time employment.
Pension accrual through the Hospitality & Catering Pension Fund.
Accommodation (big individual cabin with private bathroom) and meals provided while on board.
