As IT Manager, you will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and support of all onboard
V-Sat communications, TV systems, computer systems, mobile devices, physical and virtual
servers, networks, point-of-sale terminals, network equipment, and peripherals. This consists
primarily of level 1, 2 and 3 (if applicable) support as well as system monitoring and
troubleshooting. The IT Manager works closely with the shoreside IT department to ensure all
onboard systems perform at optimum levels.

 Provided:

  • Salary $6000 per month while onboard
  • 4 month contract 
  • Single Cabin 

 Essential Functions:
• Work closely with shore side IT for new projects, deployment and implementation.
• IT Network Infrastructure – administer, manage and monitor the hardware and software resources, connectivity, communication and operations of the entire network.
• Physical and Virtual Servers – maintain and monitor the servers at all time. Protects data, software and hardware from failures.
• Domain Controller – administer, manage and monitor the servers, computers and users onboard.
• Exchange Server / Office 365 – administer and maintain exchange server, email addresses, and virus attacks. Help email users by providing instructions and best
practices.
• V-Sat Communications (Telenor) – ensure efficient operations at all times. Monitor closely and the optimal performance of the ship.
• TV System – in-charge with the above deck equipment (ADE) and below deck equipment (BDE) including troubleshooting and repair of the equipment. Handle and control the TV broadcast onboard.
• Property Management System (Fidelio) – administer and manage the system from terminal check-in, security gangway and guest and crew handling and users support.
• Point of Sales (Micros) – administer and manage the server, workstations and users. Includes repair and troubleshooting of workstations and printer.
• Wi-Fi Mesh Network – administer and manage the Cisco Wireless Controller. Troubleshoot and repair wireless access points for optimal performance and coverage.
• Guest and Crew Internet Café – maintain internet connection and WiFi coverage for guests and crew at all times. Communicate directly with the vendor support for any
application and connectivity issues.
• VoIP System – administer and manage the Call Manager and the Cisco IP phones. Includes programming and repair of the mobile devices.
• Deck and Engine Procurement and Management System (AMOS) – Monitor the server, backup the database and check the replication process between the ship and the office sites. Communicate with the vendor support for any application and user issues
• Crew Management, Payroll and Manning system (Adonis) - Monitor the server, back up the database and check the replication process between the ship and office sites. Communicate with the vendor support for any application and user issues
• Casino Table and Slots Software (OCM) - Monitor the server, backup the database and check the replication process between the ship and the office sites. Communicate with the vendor support for any application and user issues
• Assist support of the Bridge’s navigational equipment, NAPA, Checkpoint, CCTV and other existing systems and communicate to vendors if necessary.
• Help and train users with new procedures and technology onboard.
• Always have contingency plan for system failures, internet downtime, data loss, cyber security and threats.

Qualifications:
• In addition to technical experience, IT managers are required to have at least a bachelor's degree education in IT, preferably with well-rounded major such as computer science, information technology or management information systems.


Experience:
• Applicants must have at least five years' related experience in areas of user support within a medium-sized LAN; a thorough knowledge of computer systems including but not limited to Linux, MS Office, Windows Client and Server editions; and experience troubleshooting PC hardware, software applications, and network connectivity.
• Management or supervisory experience and a BS or higher in computer science, MIS, or related field is strongly preferred.
