Engine Mechanic

The Engine Mechanic is responsible for managing all workshop operations and supporting maintenance activities within the engine department. This role involves overseeing the proper use and condition of workshop equipment, including safety devices and personal protective equipment (PPE). The position requires a high level of skill in mechanical repair, fitting, welding, and pipework, with an emphasis on economical work planning and efficient management of workshop consumables.

Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the engine room workshop, ensuring that all maintenance and repair tasks are completed to the highest standard.

Disassemble, repair, overhaul, and reassemble engine parts and other mechanical components as required.

Perform a wide range of mechanical works, including welding (preferably stainless steel and aluminum), fitting, and pipework, contributing to the proper functioning of the engine and mechanical systems.

Manage unplanned maintenance tasks and ensure that equipment is brought back to service in a timely and effective manner.

Experience 

Significant experience in the maintenance of engine systems, including welding, fitting, pipework, and mechanical repair.

Previous experience in a similar role on yachts, cruise ships, or in the maritime industry preferred.

Strong knowledge of workshop management, including tool and consumable management and adherence to safety standards.
