About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Officer to join a cruise vessel. This is an excellent opportunity for a maritime IT professional with strong infrastructure, networking, and leadership experience to manage and support critical shipboard IT systems while delivering exceptional service to crew and guests.

As the Senior IT Officer, you will lead onboard IT operations, mentor IT Officers, and work closely with both shipboard management and shore-based IT teams to ensure maximum availability, security, and performance of all IT systems.

Key Responsibilities
Provide 2nd and 3rd line IT support for crew and guests.
Manage and oversee the onboard IT Service Desk and ticket resolution process.
Support, coach, and mentor IT Officers onboard.
Administer Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
Maintain and troubleshoot shipboard infrastructure including:
Servers and virtual environments (VMware vSphere/vCenter)
Network switches and Wi-Fi systems
Satellite communications (Starlink, SeaTel, Intellian)
POS, PMS, operational software, door systems, and other business-critical technologies.
Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilisation, and system alerts.
Implement security patches, updates, and cyber security best practices.
Manage IT projects onboard and collaborate with shore-based IT teams.
Support cyber security awareness, training, and compliance initiatives.
Maintain IT documentation, procedures, and training materials.
Ensure shipboard data centres and server rooms remain secure, organised, and operational.
Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in a Senior IT Officer, IT Manager, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar maritime IT role.
Strong knowledge of:
Windows Server environments
Active Directory
VMware virtualisation
Networking and troubleshooting
Satellite communications
Cyber security best practices
Experience managing service desks and leading IT teams.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shipboard environment.
Mandatory Certification Requirements

Applicants must hold valid:

STCW Basic Safety Training
Crowd Management, Crisis Management & Human Behaviour (CMHB)
Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate
Seafarer's Record Book
STCW Seafarer Medical Certificate

Attractive 2 months on / 2 months off rotation
