As Pastry Chef, you are responsible for the creation, preparation, and presentation of all
pastry products onboard. You manage your area independently, ensuring quality,
consistency, and hygiene while supporting the Executive Chef in culinary operations.
Your role is key to delivering a memorable dining experience for guests.

ISMIRA Agency actively recruiting for position PASTRY CHEF for Scylla AG!

Today, the company operates more than 40 modern river ships, sailing along the Rhine, Danube, Seine, Rhône, Saône, and many other beautiful rivers across Europe.

As a Kitchen Steward, you are essential to keeping the galley running smoothly. You ensure a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment, support the culinary team with daily operations, and help maintain high hygiene standards onboard.

Responsibilities
Pastry Operations & Management
• Manage the Pastry area independently.
• Professional calculation, preparation, and presentation of all pastry items
according to assigned menu plans.
• Control weight, cutting, and portioning for consistency.
• Follow recipes accurately to ensure quality and taste.
• Supervise product quantities in assigned storage areas.
• Assist in quality and cost control efforts.
• Temperature check of all meals before service.

Hygiene & Compliance
• Maintain hygiene in the Pastry area, including cold storage and storage rooms,
according to Scylla standards.
• Adhere to HACCP and Edelweiss Gastro regulations.
• Execute weekly deep cleaning of the workplace.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules within your kitchen area.
• Daily check and documentation of cooling temperatures per HACCP standards.

Team Collaboration & Support
• Support Executive Chef with ordering and inventory management.
• Cooperate closely with Maître d’Hôtel, Restaurant Manager, and Bar teams for
smooth service flow.
• Depending on ship class, perform night cooking duties when required.
Additional Duties
• Support with luggage handling and loading operations.
• Keep crew areas and personal cabin clean on a daily basis.
• Contribute to creating a memorable and enjoyable experience for guests.
Requirements


What You Bring Onboard
• Minimum of 4 years of professional Pastry experience, including production,
flavor pairing, and culinary best practices.
• Preferably graduated in hotel management or culinary arts; river cruise ship
experience is an advantage.
• Flexible, stress-resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, and a positive team
player.
• Professional attitude and appearance with a strong work ethic.
• Open-minded, flexible, and culturally aware with high social and interpersonal
skills.
• Excellent English skills (spoken and written); German is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and deliver guest-oriented service.
• Good computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Represents Scylla’s values and team spirit.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
