Main Function

Wine Butler is responsible for providing knowledgeable, professional and personalized wine service to Guests at the Helios Wine Bar, helping them select wines according to their preferences and providing expert recommendations and food pairing suggestions.

Provides an exceptional Guest experience through excellent wine knowledge, attentive service and effective salesmanship, while supporting the Wine Specialist with wine inventory, displays, tastings and the overall operation of the Helios Wine Bar.

Qualifications

• B2 level of English with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with international Guests.
• Strong knowledge of wines and genuine passion for wine and wine service.
• Good knowledge of wine-producing regions and countries, including both Old World and New World wines.
• Knowledge of sparkling, sweet and fortified wines.
• Understanding of viticulture and vinification.
• Good knowledge of food and wine pairing and the ability to make appropriate recommendations to Guests.
• Excellent Guest service and communication skills with a confident and friendly approach.
• Ability to recommend products and upsell appropriately while maintaining a professional and consultative approach.
• Ability to conduct or assist with wine tastings and explain wine characteristics, production methods and background to Guests.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when handling wine inventory and displays.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with systems such as MMS, CrunchTime or Otalio is an advantage.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides professional, friendly and knowledgeable wine service at the Helios Wine Bar, exceeding Guest expectations.
2. Assists Guests in selecting wines according to their preferences, meals and occasions, providing knowledgeable recommendations and food pairing suggestions.
3. Promotes wine sales through professional upselling and product recommendations while maintaining a high level of Guest service.
4. Conducts and assists with wine tastings and other wine-related activities organized onboard.
5. Provides engaging and informative wine presentations, explaining the background, production, characteristics and tasting profile of different wines.
6. Uses the interactive screens and available presentation materials to provide Guests with information about wineries and wine-producing regions.
7. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Helios Wine Bar wine list and all products available for sale.
8. Assists the Wine Specialist in maintaining wine displays, including correct positioning and availability of wines by the glass.
9. Supports wine inventory management, monitors stock levels and assists with ordering additional wine when required.
10. Maintains the Helios Wine Bar, food displays, wine equipment and glassware in excellent condition.
11. Assists with the setup, cleaning, maintenance and sanitation of the Helios Wine Bar according to company standards.
12. Follows all MSC standards, Helios Wine Bar manuals, procedures and food and beverage service requirements.
13. Handles all wine service equipment and products safely and responsibly.
14. Keeps wine knowledge up to date and continuously develops expertise in wines, wineries, regions and current wine trends.
