Senior Engineer

This position is responsible for leading the design, development, operation, and maintenance of Information Technology computer systems and software applications. The senior engineer uses technical knowledge to define strategic direction within the specific discipline and to solve complex business problems, by means of a systematic and disciplined approach. This position employs software, hardware, and/or communication technologies to accomplish assignments.

Career Snapshot:

• Minimal, 7  years of experience leading, designing, configuration and installation of complex technical communications infrastructure systems plus full understanding of industry trends & standards, working knowledge of hardware and software architectures.
• Plans, designs, and implements complex functional and technical application and system level designs
• Defines interdependency with other disciplines and is involved in the testing and certification processes
• Leads, directs and provides technical guidance to team
• Supports, operates and maintains computer systems and software applications
• Interprets, refines and applies methods and procedures in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology industry standards and best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.
• Remains current with industry trends in order to conceive, prototype and recommend technical approaches for IT systems and solutions that meet business needs
• Able to travel, as necessary, to perform required job duties
• May lead large complex estimation activities, meeting expectations of deadlines within budget, schedule and appropriate quality accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services

Requirements:

• Certified or at least 7 years hands-on in-depth knowledge and experience supporting the following Marine and terrestrial PBX communications systems:
• Alcatel - 4400
• Avaya  Call Management Systems
• Avaya Communications Manager - S8730, G650 Gateways
• Avaya Modular Messaging,
• Cisco Unified Communications Manager
• Cisco IP Dect System
• Ericsson
• Mitel - SX2000 and 3300
• Inmarsat Satellite System
• Iridium Satellite Systems
• NEC - IP Dect System
• IVR
• Call Accounting Systems
• Strong Shipboard New-build and Dry-dock Project Management, along as new technology projects for shoreside and vessels
• A general knowledge of UVN, AVPN, MPLS MIS, Cisco, Riverbed, BlueCoat, VSAT, C-Band, Ku-Band cellular satellites, Polycom Video Conferencing, is a plus
• Must be able to travel up to 10%-30%

Preferred:

•  Subject matter expertise in computer science, engineering or related discipline
• Skilled in 2010 Microsoft Office Suite.  (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
