As the Junior Guest Relations Officer, you will be highly interactive with guests, whether at the Guest Relations Desk or the switchboard. Utilize your exemplary problem resolution skills, professionalism, keen listening skills, engaging social skills, and organizational skills to maintain departmental and company integrity. You will play an essential role in all service recovery initiatives and interactions in addition to resolving all service recovery challenges.
Career snapshot:
- Provides guests and fellow crewmembers with information, in addition to handling special requests and forwarding repair requests to the appropriate department
- Operates switchboard equipment to answer questions and take a variety of requests, including room service orders and wake-up calls
- Organizes orders and relays orders to service personnel for preparation. Monitors the Purser’s Log to ensure all maintenance issues are resolved to the guests’ satisfaction
- Accountable for all service recovery challenges communicated by guests and routing to relevant departments. Follows-up with guests to ensure total satisfaction. Logs service failures in the Logbook and keeps the Assistant Guest Relations Manage informed
- Answers inquiries regarding Guest Relations services and general information. Responds to guest concerns in a considerate, professional and positive manner by showing empathy and actively listening. Takes ownership of guest concerns, by following-up and ensuring complaints are resolved to the guest"s satisfaction
- Maintains knowledge of all the ship’s regular events and special functions by reviewing all available sources (vessel’s Daily Program, etc.) in order to provide guests with accurate information to answer questions and handle special requests
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Minimum of one year experience in a customer contact position within the food, beverage, hotel, cruise ship or related industry
- Ability to operate a telephone switchboard console and effectively deal with a high call volume
- Solid communication, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate basic office equipment, including telephones, computers, and copy machines
- All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D visa (and other relevant visas) when applicable
- Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training
Preferences:
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration or related field from an accredited college, university or the international equivalent
- Customer service experience utilizing multi-languages in a hospitality industry
- Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German
