Position Summary:
As the Senior Fixed Assets Accountant you will be reporting to the Manager of External Financial Reporting & Fixed Assets Accounting. In this position you will be responsible for performing month-end close procedures, including placing assets in service, calculating monthly depreciation expense, processing asset disposals and preparing fixed asset account reconciliations. You will also have the opportunity to interact extensively with various departments within the Company in order to provide guidance on questions related to fixed assets capitalization.
Career snapshot:
- Perform month-end close procedures for fixed assets, close books, and explain depreciation variance
- Compute monthly capitalized interest
- Review the capitalization of costs to various capital projects
- Prepare fixed asset account reconciliations
- Prepare quarterly fixed asset schedules for external auditors as well as governmental surveys
- Perform research on accounting issues related to fixed assets
- Analyze lease agreements for proper accounting treatment
- Ensure proper execution of SOX key controls as it relates to fixed assets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in public or private general accounting or financial reporting
- Strong technical accounting background, specifically related to fixed assets
- Knowledge of GAAP, Essbase, and the JDEdwards general ledger database application and fixed assets module
- Experience in the monthly general ledger close process
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with operating groups and audit for SOX compliance
- Possess strong analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal) with experience in presenting ideas/concepts to senior level management
- Ability to speak and present information clearly and concisely to upper management
- An outstanding attention to detail
