JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Housekeeper is to be able to deputize in every way for the Housekeeper in times of
need. This responsibility includes complete supervision of the cleaning, disinfection, service and
standards of the entire housekeeping department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures the highest standard of cleanliness and service in assigned duties.
• Applies all Standard Procedures specified for this and all positions in the Housekeeping Department.
• Starts work each day punctually, making a physical check of all Housekeeping utility personnel to ensure
  all public areas, staircases, elevators, glass, public toilets are being cleaned and disinfected to MSC standards.
• To be able to dispense, use and understand safe applications of all institutional cleaning chemicals
  provided by the Company for use in the Housekeeping department.

• Staff and Officers Cabins
• Orientation and Crew Training

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School Graduate, preferably with hotel academic training.
• Fluent English with a good knowledge of spoken German. Knowledge of any other major language is
  considered a major advantage;
• A minimum of 3 completed contracts as a Senior Cabin Steward on an Internationally-trading Guest
  vessel, or a minimum of 2 years as a Room Attendant or Floor supervisor in a Five-Star International
  Hotel.
• Ability to assist in the general supervision of the Guest accommodation section of the ship.
• Above average skills in tactful, diplomatic crisis and problem handling
• Ability to work in a harmonious productive team environment.
• Basic computer skills in Windows-based programs and any current ship management program in use 
  on assigned ship;
• Physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills;
• Physically able to lift and/or move up to 25 kg;
• STCW ’95 Basic Safety Training Certificates (including swimming and rowing) are compulsory;
• Proficiency in security awareness training is required;
• A recognised “fit to work” medical certification is required before starting to work onboard.

VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any)

• VISA working permit, Entry and/or Transit VISAs may be required depending on ship itinerary
