We are currently recruiting for experienced Chinese speaking IT/SYSTEMS Manager for cruise vessel PIANO LAND.

Pianoland, the First Ship for Astro Cruises, has been designed exclusively for Chinese National Guests.

With up to 1800 guests onboard, enjoying a wide variety of food and beverage outlets as well as fantastic entertainment, this is a great company to join!

With plans to increase the size of the fleet very quickly, there are great opportunities for development and promotion.

Pianoland will sail initially in Chinese Waters, but long term will take on a wider itinerary.

The crew onboard will be from a wide variety of nations, allowing you to make international friends and learn about new cultures, whilst developing your career.

Job Description Information Technology/Systems Manager

1.1.1 The Information Technology/Systems Manager is the Head of the Information Technology Department

1.1.2 The Information Technology/Systems Manager's status is that of Officer

1.1.3 The Information Technology/Systems Manager reports directly to the shore side Director, Information Technology

1.1.4 The Information Technology/Systems Manager reports to the Financial Manager ensuring maintenance and support for all non-marine servers, computers, network and users onboard the ship

1.1.5 Safety and conduct responsibilities of the Information Technology/Systems Manager:

.1 Supervising the safe operation and working practice of the Information Technology Department and any related matters affecting the safety of the ship, passengers, and crew

.2 Informing the Financial Manager immediately of any occurrence affecting the safe operation of the ship or the safety of persons onboard and/or the quality of services offered to passengers

.3 Liaising with other departments for the coordination of Information Technology Department activities and to ensure a smooth operation

.4 Ensuring welfare and discipline of all members of the Information Technology Department, including behaviour whilst in passenger public areas, in accordance with Company policies and procedures

.5 Reporting defects or malfunctions of safety equipment and appliances e.g. expired or empty fire extinguishers, defective fire doors, broken or missing lifejackets, broken fire buttons, safety posters missing, etc

.6 Ensuring that any C-Band failures are reported to the Engine Department

.7 Ensuring the implementation of any computer related policies, procedures, security and standards set by the Company

.8 Ensuring availability 24 hours a day to resolve urgent issues which may arise

.9 Monitoring of the Information Technology Department inventory and lockers to ensure they are kept neat and tidy and in accordance to safety rules and regulations and Company policies and procedures

.10 Participating fully in safety drills and statutory inspections commensurate to the role and as per Company policies and procedures

.11 Ensuring departmental compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention directive on working hours

.12 Leading and directing the team in applying correct security measures

.13 Other safety responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above

1.1.6. Environmental responsibilities:

.1 Environmental stewardship is central to this role and the entire operation of the ship. This role will engage in, comply with and promote all environmental regulations and policies, actively working with the Hotel Department and guests to promote sustainability and protection of the environment in all aspects of life on board

1.1.7. The Information Technology/Systems Manager is responsible for:

.1 Providing support to all shipboard computer users

.2 Supervising of the following ranks:

  • IT Administrator
  • Desktop Publisher
  • Printer

.3 Providing user end software support for Microsoft Office Suite, Fidelio, Avenista, Adonis, Amos, RESCO, MXP, Ving Vision and Gangway Tracking System, Internet Explorer, Wiki, ENOAD, InfoGenesis, Passport Scanning, Library System, AIMS, Datamerge, Refman, Adonis, BVS, Snag-It, Adobe Suite, VER, InfoDoc, MCOM Interactive Television, OAG, Oasis, SeaBeyond Bingo and additional business related software applications

.4 Supporting, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing all non-marine servers, hardware and software, ordering parts when necessary

.5 Supporting, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing all POS including iPads, iPods, android devices, hardware and software, ordering parts when necessary

.6 Supporting, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing all non-marine printers, hardware and software, ordering parts and service when necessary

.7 Supporting and maintaining MCOM Interactive Television Infrastructure (servers, network)

.8 Supporting, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing key card related software and hardware including handhelds, Evolis printers and encoders, ordering parts and service when necessary

.9 Supporting, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing all escalated CU@Sea hardware and software issues

.10 Administering all system servers such as, but not limited to, Amos, Primary and Secondary Domain Controllers, Exchange, InfoGenesis, InfoDoc, Ving Card, Adonis, MXP, SQL Servers, Virtual Server Hosts, Gangway, Espresso, File Servers, FTP, Wiki, Cylence, Casino, San Storage, etc

.14 Continuously updating Information Technology Wiki documentation / SharePoint for all procedure, process and application changes

.15 Maintaining network connectivity

.16 Optimising network/VLAN performance

.17 Performing anti-virus maintenance

.18 Scheduling/administering network file backups

.19 Optimising user desktop performance by providing in-person visits to run diagnostics on hard drives, bring systems up to standard and upon completion, to communicate to the Company should any hardware or software be required

.20 Implementing new computer systems and software as indicated by the Company

.21 Monitoring and controlling inventory

.22 Retrieving customised data as required

.23 Maintaining network file systems including security

.24 Upgrading systems as appropriate

.25 Building systems from scratch, installing OS and all applications as necessary

.26 Set up and breakdown of check-in laptops/mobile devices, network, printers and magnetic swipe readers on embarkation day

.27 Performing B-Sat Test monthly

.28 Facilitating any guest concerns regarding CU@Sea billing

.29 Approving CU@Sea reports every cruise

.30 Training, coaching, counselling, supporting and delegating to the IT Administrator, Desktop Publisher and Printer

.31 Guiding the IT Administrator, Desktop Publisher and Printer, ensuring they are always updated with relevant shipboard information

.32 Monitoring and developing work and vacation schedules for the IT Administrator, Desktop Publisher and Printer

.33 Conducting performance appraisals for the IT Administrator, Desktop Publisher and Printer

.34 Ensuring that the team's Work Registration Forms are completed correctly and handed in to the Financial Manager in a timely manner

.35 Adhering to all Company policies and procedures, manuals and directives at all times

.36 Promoting the hotel operations values and goals by effectively communicating the corporate vision and expectations downwards

.37 Ensuring that company property is always maintained properly and treated with respect

.38 Attending and socialising at guest cocktail parties and any other functions per Company policies and procedures
