Company Overview:
Our client is a leading cruise ship management company known for delivering world-class guest experiences across a modern and diverse fleet. With an unwavering commitment to safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility, they set the standard in the cruise sector. This position is ideal for a seasoned cruise professional — such as a former Safety Officer, DPA, or bridge officer — looking to transition ashore and contribute to the safe and compliant operation of the fleet.

Role Summary:
Based in Limassol, Cyprus, the Marine Superintendent will support the safe day-to-day operations of cruise vessels, ensuring full compliance with international maritime regulations and internal policies. This is a key liaison role between ship and shore, focused on strengthening the company’s safety culture and operational integrity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and support compliance with ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, and other applicable maritime legislation.
  • Conduct shipboard safety audits, inspections, and drills; ensure proper SMS implementation.
  • Assist ship teams with voyage planning, risk assessments, and safety-related operational decisions.
  • Lead or participate in incident and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing preventive actions.
  • Work closely with shipboard management and onshore departments to promote a strong and consistent safety culture.
  • Stay updated on maritime regulatory changes and ensure timely fleet compliance.
  • Coordinate with Flag States, Class Societies, and Port State Control authorities as required.
  • Provide safety-related training, guidance, and mentoring to onboard personnel.
  • Participate in internal safety reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Profile:
  • Seagoing experience in a senior deck position (e.g. Chief Officer, Safety Officer, Staff Captain) on cruise ships is essential.
  • Previous shoreside experience in a safety, compliance, or DPA function is a strong advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime safety regulations and SMS frameworks.
  • Confident communicator with strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); other languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including ship visits and inspections.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in the EU.
