The Relief Florist’s primary responsibility is to ensure that all flowers and plants are maintained to the highest standards in all areas of the ship. This position designs flower arrangements and foliage that will harmonize with the setting of its specific location. The Florist manages the flower stock level and will make local flower purchases whenever possible.

JOB SPECIFICS
Florist Services- 

• Create flower arrangements for all public areas of the Ship.
• Responsible for the purchase of fresh flowers locally, including handling of cash.
• Maintain a plant and flower program, compiled with pictures, check lists, charges and maintenance.
• Communicate with Residents and Guests regarding pricing, type of arrangement, date, time and place of delivery.
• Assist with bringing the destination alive by displaying flowers consistent with the location of the Ship.
• Manage flower stock levels and ensure minimal wastage.
• Walk through of public areas daily to ensure flowers and plants are according to the highest standards.
• Conduct flower arrangements demonstrations for Residents and Guests as requested.
• Source new vases/pots and décor elements for new flower arrangements.
• Responsible for compiling orders, supplies, materials and equipment and receive flowers and plants on board within budget.

General -

• Maintain accurate Time & Attendance Records for each time period worked.
• Ensure all areas are maintained in accordance with Public Health, Safety Management System (SMS) and Safety & Environmental regulations; adhering to Company Policies and procedures as appropriate to the position.
• Execute safety duties as per the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.
• Assist with Ship tours, Zodiac landings, Marina days, Expeditions, and other activities when required.
• Knowledgeable and proficient in the different types of flowers, plants and seasons.
• Working knowledge of point of sales systems and inventory management systems.

Working Conditions-

• Ability to work seven (7) days a week for an extended period, including day or night, weekends and holidays.
• While performing the essential functions of this job, all Crew are required to stand, walk long distances on the Ship and may include the repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down the stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
• All Team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
• Work within different temperature changes - indoors to outdoors.
• Ability to pass STCW safety course.
• Able to live harmoniously in close quarters.
